RESIDENTS will have their say on how Portishead is developed over the next 15 years.

A consultation, launched by North Somerset Council and Wyndham Way Study Area Steering Group, will seek feedback on a 'masterplan' for central Portishead from people who live and work in the town.

The development considers the future of the area between High Street, the Marina and planned MetroWest railway station until 2038.

It will include a network of streets for walking and cycling which links the town centre with the railway station and the marina; the creation of a new industrial estate and parking; new homes and community facilities.

The consultation closes on November 4 at 5pm. It also includes public events to discuss the plan which will be held on October 13 from 3pm to 7pm, at Portishead Library.

The Wyndham Way Study Area Steering Group includes North Somerset Council, Portishead Town Council, abrdn plc and local businesses.

Details of the masterplan can be found on the Wyndham Way website on www.wyndhamway.co.uk/.

A spokesperson for the Wyndham Way Study Area Steering Group, said: “This is an important moment for Portishead.

"The future development of the area around Wyndham Way represents a key opportunity to plan for the town to evolve in a sustainable way and enable better connections linking the town centre with Portishead’s planned MetroWest railway station and the marina.

“We have launched the consultation on our illustrative masterplan for central Portishead, which is itself a response to the conversations we have been having with local people since 2020.

"The document sets out a flexible roadmap for future development in this part of the town.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible what they think of our suggested solutions to the issues raised in the consultation. The feedback we receive this summer will inform the final version of our illustrative masterplan for central Portishead, which will be published in the autumn.”
