WORRIED residents in Nailsea are calling for the speed limit to be reduced on a main road through the town.
The appeal has come after a cat was knocked down on Queens Road and residents are worried a child could be next.
Children cross the road to get to Grove Junior School and Hannah More Infant School and parents are now keen for the speed limit to be reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
Nailsea town councillor, Anita Heappey, said: “I live just off Queens Road and it’s something I’ve thought about for a long time.
“I worry about the children coming up to the schools because someone is going to get hit by a car.
“There’s not even a crossing patrol there any more and it’s a fairly busy road.
“I also worry about my mother crossing there. There’s an island in the middle but she walks with a stick.”
Mrs Heappey said she will be approaching Nailsea Town Council to see if the matter can be taken further.
