CLEVEDON’S town centre will be filled with the sights, smells and sounds of a traditional farmers’ market on Saturday.

To be held in Queens Square from 9am-12.30pm, Clevedon Farmers’ Market prides itself on the locally-produced food and drink sold on its stalls.

As part of British Food Fortnight, the producer-owned cooperative, North Somerset Farmers’ Market, has been working to promote the Clevedon and Portishead markets it holds every month.

Both are certified farmers’ markets, which means every product is produced from the stallholder’s own holding and all of the holdings are primarily based within North Somerset. All are within 30 miles of North Somerset.

Mike Amos of North Somerset Farmers’ Markets said: “Every time we hold a market we are promoting British food.”

The vegetable growers are from Failand and Flax Bourton, Bakers of Nailsea butchers supply the meat to many stallholders and there is also local honey, trout, strawberries, cheese and home-made sweet and savoury goods on offer.

Portishead Certified Farmers’ Market is held on the second Saturday of the month at the Waitrose piazza and the Clevedon Certified Farmers’ Market is held every fourth Saturday of the month in Queens Square.
