THOUSANDS of people visited Clevedon’s seafront for the town’s annual Marine Lake Festival.

The Salthouse Fields, Marine Lake and promenade were awash with revellers both young and old during the two-day public event on Saturday and Sunday, organised by the MARLENS group.

People had the chance to try out activities on the lake including zorbing, canoeing and sailing, and a raft race proved a hit with the crowds.

Throughout the weekend a huge range of stalls were set up on the Salthouse Fields as well as games and displays.

A family It’s A Knockout competition proved popular and live music on the main stage kept the party atmosphere going.

As part of the festival, a special schools day was also held on Friday, giving children the chance to try a range of activities on the lake.

MARLENS chairman Joe Norman said: “Saturday was the best day ever for the festival. It just came together so well.

“Crowds stayed throughout the day and it was busy right up until 10pm. We had so much going on the whole place had a real buzz.

“The festival has grown so far but we really need some serious support from business people to help it grow further.”

Proceeds from the festival will go toward funding repairs at the lake.
