A 78-year-old from Nailsea helped to raise 10,000 for Children’s Hospice South West by braving hot coals.
Pat Keen took part in the firewalk on Weston beach with 50 other daredevils to raise money for the Wraxall-based charity.
Pat said: “I was pleasantly surprised by the walk – it felt like walking on warm grass. I had a fantastic night and I’m so glad we managed to raise so much for the hospice. I would happily do it again.”
Fire throwing ‘poi’ performers, a firework display and live drumming helped to create a beach party atmosphere for the crowd of spectators who had gathered to watch friends and family complete the challenge.
