A DWINDLING Clevedon group is looking for more volunteers to join its ranks.

Clevedon Lions was formed in 1968 and in that time has raised vast amounts of money for local, national and international charities and good causes.

However, its numbers have reduced to just 14 members, meaning it is getting ever harder to organise events and fundraising initiatives.

One example of this is the annual summer fair, normally held at Sunhill Park and the community centre in Princes Road, which has been cancelled this year for the first time in its 15-year history.

Lions member John Newell said: “It is not easy attracting members – people do it in their spare time and do it for nothing.

“Every penny that we raise goes to charity.”

* Clevedon Lions meets at Walton Park Hotel in Wellington Terrace at 8pm on the third Monday of each month. Anyone interested in finding out more about the club can just turn up.
