CLEVEDON Pilot Gig Club’s second vessel was welcomed to the town on Saturday.
Members of the group rowed new gig, Blackbird, along with their first one, Watch and Pray, from Bristol Docks, under the Clifton Suspension Bridge and past Portishead before reaching Clevedon Pier at 4pm on Saturday.
The boats will be based in Clevedon for the spring and summer when they will also compete in regattas, including the World Championships in the Scilly Isles in May.
The club was able to buy its second boat, which was officially named Blackbird during a ceremony on Saturday morning, from Caradon Pilot Gig Club in Cornwall thanks to a 10,000 from Sport England.
