A COMMUNITY venue in Pill has undergone a major revamp thanks to some housing developer donations.

Pill Memorial Club hosts regular live music events and is a popular social club for people in the village.

It has recently been refurbished after house builder, Lovell, and Knightstone Housing donated £5,000 of building materials.

They have been used to create a brand new stage area at the Lodway club, as well as creating more space and a better view for the audience. New sound proofing has also been installed and there is a brand new area for playing darts.

Contractors for Lovell, which is currently building 14 homes for Knightstone Housing in Station Road, helped by carrying out some of the work, fitting new vinyl flooring for the stage and dance floor for free.

Lovell build manager Paul Oakley said: “The memorial club has been extremely helpful to us while we’ve been building the new housing development at Pill.

“As well as letting us use part of the car park for subcontractor and site staff parking, the club kindly provides us with a meeting room for our monthly project meetings and has allowed us to use an area of the car park for storing materials.

“We are very grateful for their support and wanted to show our appreciation by helping out with the refurbishment project.”

Knightstone development manager Dave Summerhill said: “It’s great to have been a part of this project, which we hope will benefit the whole community.”
