A new riding school has opened on the outskirts of Portishead.
Sperrings Equestrian, in Clapton-in-Gordano, received a 5* licence from North Somerset Council after an inspection, which means Sperrings Riding School is now open to the public.
Bex Letts, a BHS qualified instructor who has opened the new facility, in Moor Lane, said: “We’ve been working on this for a while now, due to a surge in demand following the closure of two local riding schools.
"After months of planning, essays of paperwork and the careful selection of and investment in six more gorgeous horses, we are delighted to confirm that last week we were awarded a 5* riding school licence, the highest level you can get.”
The school will offer riding tuition seven days a week for adults and children, with private, shared and group sessions as well as stable management classes.
Bex added: “We cater for all abilities and ages and also offer schoolmaster lessons on our schoolmaster horses.
“International show jumping and dressage champions, along with renowned instructors are regular visitors to the Sperrings Equestrian arena, where we hold flatwork and jumping clinics and a variety of shows and events for horse riding enthusiasts.
"By offering lessons, we hope to encourage a new generation of riders and who knows, we could be helping some of tomorrow’s champions on their journey.”
As well as opening the new riding school, Sperrings Equestrian has a shop on-site, The Country Cabin, and offers customers horsebox hire.
