Last month Backwell Leisure Centre, in Farleigh Road, opened a new gym area, meaning Parkwood now has fitness equipment in the village and down the road at Nailsea’s Scotch Horn Leisure Centre.

A Parkwood spokesman said visitors to the new gym can expect to find the finest modern gym equipment at the leisure centre.

She said: “The new community gym is equipped with high quality cardiovascular and selector pin resistance kit.

“It boasts a functional training station with kettlebells, core bags and various other functional kit to offer the customers the opportunity to complete training programmes that cater for everything from a general full-body workout, to a cross training circuit.”

It has therefore teamed up with the Times to offer two lucky readers a free two-month membership.

That prize means the winners will be able to make use of the swimming, gym, fitness and racket sports facilities for free at both Backwell and Scotch Horn leisure centres.
