A TEENAGE woman has sustained "potentially life-threatening injuries" after being hit by a car in North Somerset.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following the collision in Backwell.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said the 18-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a black Toyota IQ3.

The incident occurred in West Town Road at 7.30pm yesterday (Thursday, September 28).

The spokesperson added that the driver of the Toyota was uninjured.

The spokesperson said: "We're appealing for witnesses and footage after a collision which has left a teenage pedestrian in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

"It happened at 7.30pm on Thursday 28 September on West Town Road, Backwell. An 18-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a black Toyota IQ3.

"The driver of the Toyota was uninjured and remained at the scene.

"Collision investigation and initial house-to-house enquiries were carried out overnight."
