CREW members from Portishead's RNLI team have helped with the recovery of a canoeist who found themselves in the water after their canoe upturned.
The incident happened yesterday (Monday, August 14).
Posting on Facebook, a spokesperson from RNLI Portishead said: "RNLI volunteers were tasked to support SARA (Severn Area Rescue Association) with the recovery of a canoeist who got in to difficulty in the channel trying to get to Bristol.
"Bristol VTS at Avonmouth spotted an upturned canoe and reported it to the coastguard.
"Thankfully SARA, who were already on the water following from another incident, were able to reach the canoe quickly and found the canoeist in the water with the small pleasure craft.
"Although very tired and cold from being in the water, the person was well, so SARA bought the person to the RNLI lifeboat slipway as it was the closest point to the shore.
"Our crew assessed the person again, one of which was a doctor, and after a warm shower at the station, it was agreed he would make a full recovery from his ordeal."
