An evening of 1990s nostalgia will be held in Clevedon next week, and the Times has a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky reader.

Half The World Away will be at Theatre Shop in Queens Square, Clevedon, on February 23.

The show, performed by Foursquare Theatre, focuses on Keith’s Country Stores, a small shop in a fictional Gloucestershire village during the summer of 1997.

Keith the shopkeeper is determined to retain his title for best cow, which he has won the previous three years, and demands help to create the best cow-based window display in the village’s history.

As the fierce rivalry heats up, a young worker in the shop becomes trapped in the middle so, in world where mobiles were not as common, uses her creativity and an imaginary friend to stave off boredom by taking part in Fray Bentos pie curling matches, dance routines and staring contests.

Packed with references to the era from the rise of New Labour to the Teletubbies, and a plethora of 1990s music, the show promises to be a hilariously heart-warming nostalgia trip.

The show also boasts a wealth of creative talent including director Emma Williams, who has previously worked on projects for Bristol Old Vic and Tobacco Factory, and writer Paul Dodgson whose credits include working for BBC TV and radio as well as Theatre Royal in Bath.

Half The World Away will be performed from 7.30-8.30pm

Tickets, priced £11, are available from 03336 663366 or online.
