A flavour of New Orleans jazz will entertain a Portishead crowd at the end of the month.

Speakeasy Jazz Club’s monthly meet will feature The Storyville Strutters in October and organiser Kate Sheridan says it will be a night ‘not to be missed’.

She said: “The Storyville Strutters are one of the most exciting and authentic re-creators of early New Orleans jazz on the British jazz scene today.

“They capture the hot and steamy atmosphere of Storyville and the flavour of Bourbon Street, strutting and promenading past Preservation Hall and down to the banks of the Mississippi.”

The sound of trumpets, trombones and banjos will echo around Clarence House on October 27. The show will start at 8.30pm.

* Tickets, priced £12, are available on the door or in advance from Kate on 01275 848391 or at katespeakeasy@hotmail.co.uk
