THOUGH it may be about beefy male strippers, Magic Mike (15), the next film to be screened in Clevedon, aims for the most important muscle of all – the heart.

The comedy, about a male stripper (Channing Tatum) who finds himself mentoring a newcomer, may be full of six-packs and one-liners at first, but it promises an emotional, heart-warming tale underneath the shirt-slinging and dancing abs.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh, the man in the chair for the super-successful Ocean’s 11, it also stars Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey and Olivia Munn.

Together they make up a compelling and talented team sure to deliver an entertaining, humorous take on a rarely-explored industry.

Much of the film, incidentally, is inspired by Tatum’s own experience as a 19-year-old male stripper in Florida.

Magic Mike will be screened at The Curzon Community Cinema in Old Church Road from Saturday until August 9.
