The Curzon Community Cinema will be among the venues screening the National Theatre’s production of Frankenstein from this month.

Oscar-winner Danny Boyle returned to the theatre to direct this visionary production with Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller each starring as both the creature and Victor Frankenstein

Adapted by Nick Dear from Mary Shelley’s classic novel, Frankenstein enjoyed a sell-out run at the National Theatre, and went on to win multiple awards including the 2012 Olivier Award for best actor for Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.

First broadcast live to cinemas in 2011, public demand has led to Danny Boyle’s electrifying production being re-released to cinemas for a limited period. Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker.

Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal.

Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental neglect, cognitive development and the nature of good and evil are embedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic tale.

Frankenstein will be screened at 7.45pm on June 14 and again at 2pm and 7.45pm on July 7.

Tickets, priced £10-12, are available from the box office on 01275 871000.
