Clevedon Feathers Junior Badminton Club’s youngsters took part in their first-ever home match against Chew Valley.

The Under-12s and 16s played well and after a few nerves settled down and started to take control of the match.

The Under-16s (Anna Webster, Connor Thie, Melissa Poole and Hannah Richards) steamed ahead taking the singles 3-1, before levelling up over the doubles and ending the match 5-5 draw, but finishing on top with only a four-point lead.

The Under-12s, Luke Webster (11), Olly Sparks (12), Harry Wall (9) and Georgia Powers (8), seemed to be closely matched with their opposition.

They took a narrow 9-7 lead after the singles. The doubles proved a lot tougher and they went 15-13 down, but they won the next eight games, losing just one and winning the overall match 20-16.

Olly, being quite new to the game, has natural talent, winning 10/14 games. A big thank you to Will M from Chew bringing his sporting teams along. Also, Peter and Amy from Chew Valley for helping with the youngsters.
