Smart play from Paul takes him to the final

PUBLISHED: 14:36 12 April 2017

Paul Smart defeat Alan Pople 3-0 to reach the final of the Clevedon & District Snooker League’s Handicap Cup.

Only one match took place in the Clevedon & District Snooker League and was the Handicap Cup semi-final match between Alan Pople and Paul Smart.

Pople started each frame with a 10-point advantage and in the first he quickly doubled the start to find himself 20 points up. However, Smart battled back to take the opening frame 77-48. It was a similar story in the second frame too, as Smart was 20 points behind, but came back to win the frame 51-28.

The third frame matched the first two, and once again it was Smart’s solid safety play that got him back into the frame. He also made a fine 39 break to seal his place in the final, 72-32. Final score Paul Smart 3, Alan Pople 0.

His opponent was decided last night (Tuesday) when Simon Cambridge and Phil Daniels played their rescheduled game.

This week is the semi-finals for the Monty Cooper Cup. Mark Adams v Mark Walsh and Paul Honess v Trevor Yeo will take place tonight (Wednesday).
