Yatton gained a bonus point victory over Bristol Saracens in a high-scoring encounter.

Yatton 43 pts

Bristol Saracens 27 pts

With the slight slope and wind in their favour, Bristol Saracens opened with a converted try within seconds of the kick-off.

Yatton safely gathered the ball deep in their 22 and when trying to run out, a knock-on advantage gave the visitors an easy penalty.

But at the second attempt, the home side swept back up the field to retrieve some difference thanks to Lloyd Richardson’s penalty and minutes later a massive drive-over saw several attacking hands ground the ball with the credit going to Edd Ryder-Smith.

With the scoreline now at 8-7, Saracens took advantage, increasing their intensity against a too often leaky defence, securing two tries, one converted, and a penalty.

Yatton’s defence continued to live dangerously with constant attacks and struggled to get out of their half with a points difference of 8-22. But an attacking five-yard line-out in the dying minutes of the half saw hooker Ollie Hardwidge burrow over and give Richardson an easy conversion.

Two minutes into the second half, Richardson’s sniping short run from a penalty saw him touch down and convert his own try, which momentarily levelled the scores, only for Saracens to score their bonus point fourth try and they were back in the lead at 22-27 after 45 minutes.

But as Yatton’s pressure intensified and injury changes were made, clearance kicks erased Saracens attacks and Tom McMaster claimed Yatton’s fourth, with Richardson again adding the extras, putting Yatton marginally in the lead and looking more comfortable.

Yatton’s back division were able to capitalise on a dry pitch and Tom Moore’s bursting run added clear water in the scores and his second converted try, after gathering a desperate clearance kick, put the result beyond doubt.
