Gordano Sharks Under-13s ran out 24-10 winners against St Brendans.
ON a sticky pitch, St Brendan’s Under-13s started brightly against Gordano Sharks and had the upper hand for the first few minutes.
However, the Sharks pack started to rumble with the back row of Josh Connock, Tom Krause and Aaron Cain playing some excellent driving rugby, Krause scored in the corner.
A surging run from full-back Alex Walder took him deep into the St Brendan’s 22 and excellent support play from inside centre Alex Saxon Ornellas saw him finish superbly under the posts for Noah Holmes MacAdam to convert.
Almost immediately from the kick-off, an individual burst from Walder saw him cross under the posts for Holmes MacAdam to convert.
Turning round to play uphill, the Sharks made many substitutions and St Brendan’s started to monopolise possession and territory to score two unconverted tries.
However, the Sharks showed their resilience as a squad by coming back strongly and after good approach work from centre Ed Moss, Harry Saxon Ornellas joined his twin brother on the score sheet with a well-taken try.
The Sharks defended strongly to end a thoroughly enjoyable match played in the right spirit between two competitive sides. Gordano winning 24-10.
CLEVEDON Under-12s played a close game between two evenly matched sides, going on to win 14-12.
Chew Valley took the lead and then Charlie Tucker scored and Connor Hughes converted. Chew Valley went on to score their second try, but missed their conversion.
In the second half, Clevedon upped the pace with good passing to the wingers, and Alex Cockerill went on to score. Ollie Wilson converted to give Clevedon the lead.
Chew Valley went close to scoring a third try but could not get past Clevedon’s well-organised defence.
Man of the match was James Evans.
