CLEVEDON RFC centre Nick Carpenter has capped a fine individual season with selection for the England Under-18s tour of South Africa in August.

The 17-year-old impressed during the FIRA European Rugby Championships in Madrid, helping England to a tournament victory and has been rewarded with a place in the 26-man touring squad.

The team will fly out to South Africa on August 6 and will play Wales, France and South Africa during their 13-day tour, with the match against South Africa being held at Newlands Stadium, which has a capacity of 52,000.

Carpenter, who is a member of Bristol Rugby’s EPDG Academy is delighted with his selection. He said: “I am very pleased to have been selected for the tour of South Africa, it will be a great experience to play in the southern hemisphere and I’m really looking forward to it.”
