Another narrow defeat for Gordano

Gordano gave another battling display, but once again found themselves on another narrow defeat.

Gordano travelled to Barton Hill with a much-changed side, but were still confident of collecting an important win.

The visitors started well playing up the hill, controlling the early exchanges, but were unable to collect any points. Barts on the other hand collected three from a penalty goal.

Gordano hit back when Tom Arnall barged his way over for a converted try, Mike Dyer with the extras. The home team were keen to add more points and picked up a try with the last play of the half to take a 8-7 lead.

After the break, Gordano came out of the blocks with a bang with Royce Chiddle charging down field enabling captain Arnall to get his second try of the match, again converted.

Gordano relaxed at this point and the home side replied with a converted try to lead 15-14. Barts continued their good form and got another try to extend their lead to six points.

Captain Arnall stepped up again to score his third to take the game to the death, but the conversation slipped wide that would have taken the lead.

Barts dominated possession in the last minutes of the game and extended their lead with a penalty. Gordano went hunting for the winning points and finished the game on the home teams line but ran out of time.

It was another disappointing result for Gordano who at times are played some good rugby.

It is a day off on Saturday, but the following week will be an important game at home against Cheltenham, 2.30pm kick-off.
