Portishead Running Club members shone on home turf at the weekend’s 401 Festival Of Running.

Mark Williams’ spectacular rise showed no signs of abating as he stormed to second place in Saturday’s Half Marathon in 1.24.12, with Ed Broyd and Matt Palmer in 12th and 14th place.

Septuagenarian Stuart Ellis made his debut over the distance, recording a highly impressive 1.43.09 over the challenging course.

Honourable mentions to Jon Bonner, Sarah Hawkins, Mike Luke, Chris Melley, Richard Nuell, Jane Roscoe and Kate Weston, who ran all four races over the two days to complete the 401 Challenge’s 26.2 miles.
