Clevedon Athletic Club members produced some fine results in a variety of races.

Last weekend produced some top finishing from Clevedon Athletic Club runners.

Jemma Lewis travelled to Oxfordshire to compete in the Abingdon Marathon, a race that starts and finishes on the Tilsley Park athletics track. The route takes runners through the town centre, heading out on a two-lap course around the surrounding villages.

Jemma was aiming for a personal best time and due to combination of dedication in her training and perfect race day conditions, she achieved a time of 3.23, several minutes quicker than she expected. Jemma was absolutely delighted and is looking forward to her next challenge.

The mild and dry conditions were also favourable for runners who took part in the Dark Woods Night Race.

This is a new event around the trails of The Great Wood in the Quantocks and two race distances were on offer.

Nicole Skippins, Steph James and Kerry Coombes ran the hilly 6k course with Nicole putting in a great sprint on the finishing descent to secure third lady. She was followed by Steph and Kerry in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Simon Smith, Helen Ball and Sally Richards ran the 8.5 mile route that included some steep climbs and a fast final downhill mile.

Official results are to be confirmed, but congratulations to Simon who finished in the top five and to Helen and Sally, first and second ladies.

If you would like to join us, please come along to a training session - Tuesday and Thursday evenings, leaving from Strode Leisure Centre at 7pm.

Online entries are now open for the Boxing Day Race - full details can be found at www.clevedonac.co.uk
