Perfect conditions for marathon running

Clevedon Athletic Club’s Luke Murray took part in his first marathon - the Greater Manchester event.
The conditions were perfect for Clevedon Athletic Club’s Luke Murray as he took part in his first marathon, the Greater Manchester Marathon.
Luke had an A place start so was able to make a good start to the race. He paced the whole race well and his splits were as planned, taking him to a magnificent finishing time of 2.38.21, finishing 33rd overall.
A little closer to home, it was a lovely evening for those taking part in the final Burnham 5K race of the 2016/17 series.
Congratulations to Laura Meech who was the first lady to finish in a time of 19.38 and to Jason Moss for his PB time of 20.22.
Full Clevedon results from the evening: Steve Wood 17.58, Martin Hewlett 18.15, Laura Meech 19.38, Nigel Charman 20.12, Jason Moss 20.22, Dawn Barcham 21.42, Sally Richards 22.52.
The end of season prizes were also awarded and many congratulations go to Steve Wood, who took home the trophy for third male in the series.
If you want to join in with the success of Clevedon Athletic Club, please come along to a training session, whether it is the weekly circuit training at Clevedon School gym on a Monday or the running sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays that meet at Strode Leisure Centre.
