Clevedon Freshwater Angling Club members travelled to Bridgwater for a recent competition.
CLEVEDON Freshwater Angling Club held a competition recently on the Trinity Waters complex near Bridgwater.
Most lakes in the area were frozen over, but the fisheries staff worked hard to keep one of their lakes ice free and supplied the competitors who fished for six hours in freezing conditions with hot breakfast rolls, tea and coffee.
Bites were hard to come by but everyone caught fish. First place went to Ivan Currie with three carp and some roach for a level 9lbs. Ivan caught on dead maggot using a pole and fished 13 metres out from the bank.
Second was Barry Fowler with a nice net of roach and bream for 8lbs 12oz and third place went to Adie Baker with a total weight of 5lb 15oz, thanks mainly to a nice carp which weighed 5lb on its own.
The next competition is on February 19 at Apex Lake in Highbridge.
