Clevedon angler John Wolstencroft kept up his good record at the Trinity Waters complex near Bridgwater with another victory.

Clevedon Freshwater Angling Club returned to the popular Trinity Waters complex just outside Bridgwater and fished Woodland Lake for their latest competition.

A cold night followed by a warm autumn day resulted in a slow response from the fish, with most anglers catching in the latter half of the six-hour match.

John Wolstencroft has a good record at the venue and when he drew peg 12 and with plenty of room he knew he was in with a chance of framing. Using his favourite method of fishing luncheon meat in the margins with seven metres of pole, he caught carp up to 11lbs at intervals to win the match with a total weight of 79lbs 1oz.

Not far behind in second place was Mark Bromsgrove with a mixed net of 73lbs 9oz. Previous match winner Lance Tucker filled third place with 59lbs 2oz.
