Isle of Wight challenge for Clevedon runners

Clevedon Athletic Club members took part in the Isle of Wight challenge, with races ranging from 25k to 106k.

Five Clevedon Athletic Club members took part in the Isle of Wight challenge.

The challenge incorporates various distances on the multi-terrain and surprisingly hilly coastal path around the island.

Donna Davies was the third lady to finish the 25k Quarter Island challenge and Nicole Skippins was the third lady to finish the 52k Half Island Challenge. Jason Moss also completed the Half Island challenge in an impressive time of six hours 45 minutes.

Chris Davies and Simon Smith dug deep for 17 hours to complete the 106k Full Island challenge.

Top finishing continued at the Tewkesbury half marathon, with Clevedon runners taking many of the top spots. The course takes runners out on quiet roads in the Gloucestershire countryside ending with a superb finish along the historic high street.

Jed Bartlett had a great race, finishing in second place in 1.15.40. He was closely followed by Lee Southernwood in seventh place, 1.22.55, Steve Wood 1.23.03, eighth place first MV40 and Matt Crocker 1.24.52 third V40. Their efforts also awarded them the team prize for the club.

Other results: Pete Wheddon 1.27.29 first MV60, Clive Richards 1.28.10 first MV50, Jen Bishop 1.28.53 first FV40, Gary Lewis 1.29.31, Lindsey Kestle 1.38.52, Jemma Lewis 1.38.57, Helen Ball 1.42.52, Jeanne Fairs 1.47.34.

On the same day, several members took to the streets of sunny Bristol for the popular Great Bristol 10k. Congratulations to Jo Gallagher who was first home for the club in 40.20, closely followed by Hannah Woodman in 40.51
