There was a thrilling conclusion in the seniors’ club championship held at Clevedon Golf Club.

The seniors’ club championship was played in glorious weather at Clevedon Golf Club and produced a thrilling conclusion.

John Connors was out early in the field and returned a card of gross 80. An opening 42 on the front nine holes was followed by an excellent 38 coming home to be the clubhouse leader.

Meanwhile, out on the course, club president David Steele was also producing some very good golf. He only dropped three shots to the card on each of the two halves to record a score of 78 to take the title. John had the consolation of winning the trophy for the nett competition.

In the midweek Stableford, Sarah Martin came out on top of the leaderboard with another high-quality round. Her score of 41 points was one better than Wayne Neale in the runners-up position.

Results - senior men’s club championship – gross: David Steele 78; Reg Wiles 81; Will Rowlinson 83. Nett: John Connors 67; Ray Border 68; Steve Boyle 71 (countback).

Midweek Stableford: Sarah Martin 41 pts; Wayne Neale 40; Jon Green 38.
