Long Ashton Golf Club has held two successful golf days, the mixed open and the captain’s charity day.

A brilliant day was had by all at the Long Ashton Golf Club mixed open.

Congratulations to the overall gross winners Sue and Steve Garrahy from Henbury, who had a great game and praised the club for its great hospitality and fantastic course and greens.

The weather was good and there was a full field as usual for this popular annual event and congratulations also to Hugh Purvis and Judith Briggs (first nett) and Dianne and Cedric Clapp (first Stableford).

There were many other prizes too many to mention, partly in thanks to sponsor Martin Hurrell Financial Partnership, who attended the event and provided the additional finance to increase and widen the amount of prizes awarded.

These events are only successful due to all the volunteers involved and the organiser for this day was Julie Hagon, who ensured it ran smoothly and put many hours in to make it a success.

Also huge thanks go to the greenkeepers who worked so hard to make the course look so good, especially the greens and also the catering staff who served a great carvery after a long round and the warm hospitality in the clubhouse afterwards.

Kevin Rigby’s captain’s charity day managed to raise more than £3,000 on the day and all further funds raised will go towards his chosen charity St Peters Hospice.

Congratulations go to the winning team - The Good, the Bad, the Ugly and Tonto for their winning score of 89 points, who obviously had no issues with the superfast greens which had an 11.5 stimp meter reading.

Thirty-one teams took part in this fun day which was followed by a two-course meal in the clubhouse and as usual big thanks to Kevin and everyone involved in making this such a successful day and raising lots of much needed funds for St Peters Hospice.
