Dry conditions at Clevedon Golf Club has seen continuing low scores recorded in club competitions.

The continuing dry conditions mean there is plenty of run on the ball at Clevedon Golf Club, leading to some excellent scoring in this week’s competitions.

In the men’s medal, no less than 17 players went round with nett scores below par, with pride of place going to Jonathan Colwill and Ben Turner. They both returned cards of 68 as they battled it out in Division 2, Jonathan taking the top spot on countback.

The other divisional winners were Peter Hancock and Adrian Dugmore, who both finished with scores of 69.

The ladies’ betterball open was won by the home pair of Laureen Angell and Pauline Deal with a Stableford score of 45 points. Runners-up and winners of the best visitors’ score was Liz Henniker-Heaton and Louise Church from Henbury.

Tim Beer won the midweek Stableford with a score of 43 points.

Results – men’s medal - Division 1: Peter Hancock 69 nett; Michael Crook 70 (countback); Brad Hicks 70 (countback). Division 2: Jonathan Colwill 68; Ben Turner 68; Robert Smith 70. Division 3: Adrian Dugmore 69; Brian Strickland 72; Roger Bird 74.

Ladies’ betterball open: Laureen Angell & Pauline Deal (Clevedon) 45 pts; Liz Henniker-Heaton & Louise Church (Henbury) 42; Juliet Hagley & Lesley Wicking (Clevedon) 41; Jackie Bartleet & Lynn Willgress (Cumberwell Park) 40 (countback); Liz Jarvis & Gina Peacock (Clevedon) 40.

Midweek Stableford: Tim Beer 43 pts; Oliver Hayden 41; Andrew Dixey 40.
