Harry retains his junior championship title at Clevedon

Harry Selwyn retained his junior club championship title at Clevedon Golf Club with a fine round of 82.
The junior club championship at Clevedon Golf Club was won for the second consecutive year by the fast-improving Harry Selwyn.
In beautiful conditions, Harry recovered from a modest start where he dropped shots on the opening three holes. He showed his resilience by storming back with five pars and a birdie for a score of 39 after nine holes.
He held his form on the more difficult back nine to finish on 82. Charlotte Millington was crowned girls’ champion after a round of 88, which also earned her the best nett round of the day of 73. Completing the trophy winners was Josh Owen, with the best boy’s nett score of 73.
In the ladies’ EG medal, there was a tense struggle at the top of Division 1 with four tied on nett scores of 75. Countback was required to separate the prize winners with Heather Priestley coming out on top.
Marian Crewe was edged out of the prize-winning positions by Aliso Lee and Ruth Steele. Sandra Sharp won Division 2 with another 75, but Pat Chapman came in with the round of the day to win Division 3 with a nett score of 74.
The midweek medal was won by Simon Wheeler with a nett 70, just one shot better than Barry Mullholland, with Jim Cunning in third place.
