Long Ashton Golf Club member Alex Giles is the new Gloucestershire Ladies county champion.

The Gloucester Ladies County Championships, which were organised by Debbie Casling and Long Ashton Golf Club president Carole Stratford were held at the club over three days.

All entrants played 36 holes on day one in a medal format, with winners for both the best gross and nett scores. Congratulations go to Long Ashton lady captain Carole Brooke, who won the best senior nett score and to Ebonie Lewis for best gross score on the first day.

Congratulations go to the next 16 qualifiers who went through to the second day to play another 36 holes in match play format and those lucky enough to make it through to the third day played another 36 holes.

The club was proud that junior member Alex Giles won the overall event and is the Gloucestershire Ladies county champion, just reward for all her hard work.

The club held its first men’s senior open of the year, the Walter King Cup in glorious conditions. There was a full field as usual and great feedback on the condition of the course and the fast greens made putting a bit tricky.

Many congratulations to Long Ashton Steve Parnell member on winning the cup with a nett 69.

Thanks for everyone who took part making it a great event and we hope to see you back again in September or next year.
