FRAMES closed the gap on the two sides at the top of the Wrington Vale Snooker League after their 5-1 win at Clevedon Conservatives B and Triangles were held to a 3-3 draw at Peelers.

Peelers captain Rich Powell pinched the first frame off Andy
Sweet potting brown, blue and pink to nick it. Andy knocked in a nice 28 in defeating Steve Rees in a scrappy second frame to level the match.

Darren Lowis started well in the third against Steve and opened up a good lead, but Steve got a well constructed 22 to close the gap.
Darren always held the advantage though and did enough to win despite Steve’s best efforts.

In the next match, Andy Jones started well, but faded as Darren played well and opened up an unassailable lead to make it 1-3.

Rich and Matt then played a close frame, with Rich going 30 ahead early on before Matt got a 24 to come right back into it. Rich was just a few points down with blue, pink and black left. He knocked in a long blue and rolled in a simple pink to sneak home.

The final frame was also tight with Andy Jones starting the better and if it wasn’t for gifting Matt two fouls on the pink and another
four point foul, he could have been further ahead going into the colours.

As it was, Matt played well and deservedly fought back to make another close finish. He knocked in a good pink and got good position on the black, but overcut it and left it over the bag for Andy to slot home and secure the match draw.

Breaks: Andy Sweet 28; Matt Lucas 24; Simon Cambridge 23; Steve Rees 22.
