Clevedon Town Under-18s returned to the Woodspring Stadium for the final of the Roger Stone Memorial Cup.

They defeated Radstock Town after extra time to lift the trophy the previous season and managed to retain the cup with an accomplished performance against a spirited Odd Down team.

Odd Down took the lead on four minutes when they scored from a corner. Clevedon hit back and had chances through Jack Sell, Mitch Osmond and Dan Parslow without beating keeper Harvey Wiles-Richards.

Clevedon were back on level terms on 36 minutes with a spectacular equaliser. Mitch Osmond’s free kick was cleared to the right edge of the penalty area where Lucas Vowles’ overhead kick sailed over the keeper and into the net.

Odd Down nearly went back ahead on the stroke of half-time when a header rebounded off the base of the post straight into the grateful arms of Clevedon keeper Dylan Wallis.

Clevedon made the best possible start to the second half when they went ahead on 50 minutes. A long ball down the middle found Sell and he slipped the ball into the path of Osmond who placed the ball under the keeper and into the net.

Clevedon extended their lead in the 73rd minute. Another long ball was collected by Sell and he out-smarted the keeper and smashed the ball inside the near post.

Odd Down pulled a goal back on 80 minutes and scored a scramble to make the score 2-3.

Clevedon re-established their two-goal lead three minutes later when Sell netted from a Lucas Vowles cross to finish the scoring.

Their attention now turns to the Somerset Floodlight Youth League where they currently sit in third place having won seven out of seven games and the chance to win the title rests in their own hands with five games left to play.

Back row, left to right: Will Mann, Dan Parslow, Liam Bailey, Lucas Vowles, Ed Harris, Will Symonds. Front: Tom Baker (captain), Dylan Wallis, Mitch Osmond, Jack Sell, Morgan Davies.
