Clevedon United’s Russ Gregory scored four goals in his side’s 5-1 victory over Draycott.
RUSS Gregory scored four goals and Chris Greenslade added another as Clevedon dominated this one-sided Division 1 clash.
The match was the only one that took place in the division and the hosts kept the visitors penned in their own half for the majority of the game.
United’s forwards combined well all day and Greenslade provided the through ball for Gregory to open the scoring. A strong run from Sam Brown resulted in a penalty after he was brought down in the box and Gregory netted the resulting spot kick.
Draycott pulled one back after the referee awarded a free kick inside the box for a pass back from the keeper that was smashed home from six yards.
Nathan Price, Luke Hack, Tom Blackhall and Nick Lee were dominant for Clevedon in defence and snuffed out any early pressure from the visitors and continued to feed United’s wide men.
Greenslade scored the goal of the match when he scored with a looping half-volley over the keeper. Two minutes later Nick Austin created the fourth goal when he picked out Gregory’s run which crashed off the underside of the bar and in.
The fifth goal came after a fine flowing team move which Gregory started in his own half and was finished when captain Ben Burns crossed to the front post for the striker to sweep home.
