Portishead Town Ladies Reserves extended their lead at the top with a 4-3 victory at Ilminster.

Portishead Town Ladies Reserves travelled to Ilminster Town Reserves looking to extend their league at the top of the table and came away with all three points.

Both teams battled hard with Ellie Howard eventually breaking the Ilminster defence to make it 1-0. Soon after, Ellie Purle’s battle in the centre of midfield paid off and she scored her first of the afternoon.

Chloe Fensome made it 3-0 with strong play to fire home past the goalkeeper. Ilminster pulled one back with a fine lob. Purle scored the last goal of the first-half just before the whistle.

In the second half, the hosts were quick off the mark putting pressure on the Portishead defence and scored twice.

Ten minutes before the final whistle, Portishead went a player down due to injury, but they fought hard to deny the host a share of the points.

The Robert John Hairdressing player of the match went to Ellie Purle.
