Reigning league champions Chilcompton Sports were the visitors to The Grove on Saturday.

Chilcompton took the lead on 14 minutes when a through ball just evaded the United defenders before being expertly slotted past Owen Adamson.

Chilcompton then had the majority of play, but could not turn this advantage into goals being restricted to several long shots that were off target.

On 37 minutes Nailsea put a good passing movement together but the resultant shot by Adam Marsden was easily collected by the keeper, while at the other end Adamson saved a shot destined for the top corner.

United started the second half brightly with a snap shot by Ben Pinkney rising just over the bar. Chilcompton soon retook the initiative scoring their second goal on 52 minutes.

The only real action of the last 10 minutes was a well struck free kick from the visitors which was saved by Adamson.

On this occasion United were beaten by the better side and you can be sure that Chilcompton will be among the front runners again this season as they try to hold on to their title.

On Saturday, United are at home again when Shirehampton are the visitors with a 3pm start.
