Clevedon Town travelled to Lords Meadow Sports Centre to take on Crediton United of the South West Peninsular League’s Division One East in the first round qualifying of the FA Vase.

The visitors had early chances through Jack Sell and Lucas Vowles, while at the other end man of the match Connor Sidley-Adams made a couple of fine saves, as the half finished goalless.

The Clevedon keeper was again in action at the start of the second half before Clevedon took the lead in the 53rd minute from a corner. Harry Smith floated the ball into the box where Glen Hayer rose to head the ball against the bar and Callum Kingdon heading in the rebound.

The visitors doubled their lead when substitute Morgan Davies’ free kick saw Vowles head the ball over the keeper and into the top of the net.

Clevedon were determined to keep a clean sheet for the third game in a row and good defending by Hayer and Elliott Nicholson kept out the home side.

A great move by the visitors on 71 minutes saw them wrap up the tie. Sell, Nicholson and Davies combined to set up substitute 16-year-old Mitch Osmond to score and become one of the youngest players to score for the first team.

Clevedon are next in action on Saturday when Odd Down visit The Everyone Active Stadium with a 3pm kick-off.

Clevedon Town: C Sidley-Adams, T Ashmead, E Nicholson, H Walton (M Osmond), G Hayer, C Kingdon, L Vowles (E Feltham 73), H Smith, A Ferris, M Williams (M Davies), J Sell.
