Plymouth Parkway 3
Clevedon Town 4
Clevedon Town travelled to take on Plymouth Parkway and continued their excellent form with a superb team performance that saw them come from behind to go 4-1 up, before withstanding a fightback from the hosts to finally run out 4-3 winners.
Parkway could have taken the lead on three minutes, but keeper Connor Sidley-Adams made a fine save, while Clevedon had chances through Alex Camm and Lucas Vowles.
Clevedon went close on 35 minutes when a free-kick on the edge of the box saw Lucas Vowles curl the ball around the wall before clipping the top of the bar.
The visiting supporters didn’t have long to wait for the equaliser when the resulting goal-kick was returned back to Vowles, who did well to hold the ball up before finding the overlapping Tyler Ashmead who smashed the ball into the far corner of the net.
Clevedon’s night got even better in the 40th minute when they took the lead. Vowles broke forward before finding Ashmead overlapping and he sent in a perfect cross for Vowles to make the half-time score 1-2.
After the break, the visitors did extend their lead on 51 minutes when quick thinking by Syd Camper saw him nip in to win the ball from a Parkway throw-in before heading into the box and smashing the ball into the far corner of the net.
Clevedon’s night got even better in the 56th minute when their pressure produced another goal. A cross from the left found Archie Ferris who headed the ball down to Camm, but before he could shoot he was tackled with the ball being collected by Harry Walton.
Walton crossed the ball to the far post where the unmarked Camper had the time to lay the ball on a plate for Camm to smash the ball home and make the score 1-4.
The fightback started on 69 minutes when Parkway won a free-kick and Stewart Yetton managed to get his head to the ball first.
Parkway’s persistence saw them score again in the 78th minute when Mike Smith cut into the box before squaring the ball to Yetton and he found unmarked substitute James Lorenz at the back post to tap the ball home and make the score 3-4.
After five minutes of added time the referee brought an end to a highly entertaining game and a magnificent performance that saw Clevedon collect their eighth win from their first 10 league games.
