Clevedon Town Football Club has launched a new academy in association with Everyone Active.

Clevedon Town Football Club, in partnership with Everyone Active, is launching an exciting new football academy for young children in Clevedon and surrounding areas.

The academy will initially be for young children, of all abilities, aged between four and six years (reception and school year one), but the club hope to expand it in the future to include all age groups, and create a player pathway from mini soccer up to senior men’s/women’s football.

Clevedon Town chairman Mark Lewis said: “The partnership with Everyone Active in launching a new youth academy for the football club is a very exciting project and a great boost for local grassroots football. It will enable children, of all abilities, an opportunity to develop their football skills, whilst having fun in a safe environment.

“The launch of the football academy is part of a five-year development plan that aims to grow the football club and to become a hub of the local community.”

Ex-Bristol City player and Clevedon Town manager Micky Bell added: “I am really pleased to be involved with the launch of the academy, it’s long overdue and will be a great asset for the local community.

“Hopefully in the future we will see a Clevedon Town team playing in the Southern League again with players who have come through the academy.

The club has great traditions and excellent facilities and after a few uncertain years is now progressing in the right direction again.”

The academy opens on March 5 at the Everyone Active Stadium, and will run from 10.30-11.30am every Sunday morning. The sessions will be free of charge.

Noel Hickman, Everyone Active gym manager said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Clevedon Town in launching the football academy, and I look forward to welcoming all the junior players from the local community to the Everyone Active Stadium.”

Clevedon Town are an FA Charter Standard Club and all coaching will be provided by FA qualified coaches.

The club is working with the Somerset FA on a five-year development plan which will see the club grow into a community club providing football opportunities for local players regardless of age, gender or ability.
