Calidonian Thistle came out winners in this all-Portishead derby encounter.

Portishead Calidonian Thistle came into this derby looking to continue their perfect start to the season and before long raced into a 2-0 lead with two well-struck Tom Fowler free kicks.

However with chances going begging, Town pulled one back just before the break after some sloppy defending from a set piece.

The second half saw Thistle continue their dominance and proved to be more clinical. A Ben Purdy assist provided Simon Kelly with his first of the match and Fowler completed his hat-trick after some good one-touch passing.

Kelly added two more to his tally to complete his hat-trick with two Ryan Owen assists and there was still time for Fowler to add his fourth and Cali’s seventh when he got on the end of Billy Fowler’s through ball.

Town did pull one back late on, but the points were already in the bag for Thistle.

It has been a positive start to the season for the Thistle, who are looking to make it six consecutive promotions this season and they will be looking to continue their fine start when they travel to Wrington on Saturday.

The Robert John Barbers man of the match was Tom Fowler.
