Ashton & Backwell United enjoyed a 2-0 victory over Bristol Telephones to get back to winnning ways.

Ashton & Backwell United got back to winning ways with a fine 2-0 victory over Bristol Telephones.

The hosts started well with shots coming from Hardidge and a couple from Walker, while Smart also went close.

After the break, Phones came out buzzing and home keeper Coombes was kept busy. At the other end, Thomas went close from a corner as the Stags began to take control.

Ashton & Backwell took the lead on 67 minutes from another corner. After being cleared, Allen pumped the ball back into the area and Coombes netted. The hosts doubled their lead when Saunders who fired home for his debut Stags goal.

The next Stags action, a Toolstation Western League Division 1 match against Chippenham Park, is on Saturday at the Lancer Scott Stadium.
