Portishead Pilot Gig Club members took part in their first regatta as a newly established club.

Bristol Sprints rowing race took place at the Harbourside and this for many was the first regatta for a number of the Portishead Pilot Gig Club members, as a newly established club.

The course took the form of a velodrome circuit on the water, with two boats per race racing from a central start line in a circle, around four buoys to finish.

The novice crews of Portishead Pilot Gig Club performed particularly well, with the short course suiting them well, given the short amount of time they have been rowing for. Other crews entered were, women’s, men’s and two novice crews.

It was great to get racing amongst the other clubs and get into the competition season.

The regatta was well organised and all that attended had a great day.

Results - Portishead men v Clifton - race 1 (2nd) race 2 (2nd); Bristol Women v Portishead (2nd), (2nd); Bristol Novice v Portishead (1st), (2nd); Portishead Novice 2 v All Aboard (2nd), (1st).
