Clevedon Freshwater Angling Club held their first competition of the spring on Woodland Lake, which is part of the Trinity Waters complex near Bridgwater.
It was the best day of the year so far with comfortable temperatures which raised anglers hopes of getting a few fish due to the water warming up.
There were some excellent bags of fish caugh, but only in the southern half of the lake. Leading the way was Kev Perry who fished and fed 6mm pellets shallow at 13 metres all day for a magnificent 180 lbs of carp. Kev’s biggest fish was 14 lbs
On the opposite peg, Paul Nichols put together 126 lbs of carp fishing short and in the margins with a variety of baits for second place. Brian Slipper filled third place with 80 lbs of carp caught shallow.
The biggest fish of the match was an 18 lb carp caught by press officer Ivan Currie.
