The Triangle Misfits defeated Clevedon Round Table to clinch the third-placed trophy at the Clevedon Community 20:20 League.

The Triangle Misfits took on Clevedon Round Table, both competing for the third-place trophy in Division 2.

The Misfits batted first and reached an admirable total of 178 with a stunning knock from Paul O’Connell (50 not out), ably assisted by Steve Treanor and Colin Pollard.

In response, Round Table started well with a master class from Ben Wilson (51 not ou), putting 92 runs on the board after nine overs. However, wickets began to fall and they fell short of the target with the Misfits claiming the spoils.

At the Champagne moment, there was no doubt that both teams had played the match in the true spirit of this Community League with a controversial decision being honoured by Derek Perry, captain of the Round Table.

The bubbly was awarded to Ed Birkbeck for his diving catch and Steve Smith, captain of the Triangle Misfits was presented with the trophy.

On August 27, finals day takes place at Dial Hill, with Swiss Valley taking on the Gig Club at 1pm, followed by The Royal Oak versus CRFC at 4pm. Presentations and acknowledgements will take place soon after the conclusion of match two and again all players, supporters and their families will be warmly welcomed.
