The sun shone on Clevedon Rugby Club and Swiss Valley as the two teams battled it out in the Community League at Dial Hill.

It was a great start to the Community League season at Dial Hill, the sun was shining and a good crowd turned out to watch Clevedon Rugby Club take on Swiss Valley.

Clevedon Rugby Club opened the batting and John Shepherd (26) and Andy Ford (18) got off to a steady start. They lost a few cheap wickets which brought Charlie Tucker (41) and Jack Banks (47) and they set a healthy total of 166.

A word must go to James Barzotelli for some great bowling 2-27.

Swiss Valley struggled to keep up with the rate from the outset, but young Ben Wilson’s great knock of 30 kickstarted the Valley’s response. Neil Swift was supported by Dan Hand (14) as the tail started to wag.

Some great bowling from James Chidley and Fraser Bishop, both with two wickets for less than 20 runs between them, saw the rugby club take control and close the game out with Swiss Valley teaching 98 in reply.

The Champagne moment went to Hilly for an amazing one-handed stop close to the bat and run out the dangerous Tucker.
