Clevedon Ladies played extremely well to record a fine victory over Keynsham.

The home side started well, controlling the game and pushing forward at every opportunity with Ella Davey and Caitlin Meredith pulling the strings in midfield, with the front line boring down on the visiting goal.

Keynsham however battled well to keep the home attack out, Keziah Douglas back from injury played superbly using her pace and power to create openings. Some great passages of play gave Anya Colyer space and time to put Clevedon ahead.

Keynsham fought back and home keeper Jemilla Colyer was in action saving well from a counter attack. Laura Gillespie produced a great goal-line clearance but in the closing minutes of the half, Keynsham forced an equaliser.

After the break, the visitors upped their game and forced Clevedon back, home defenders worked hard but could not prevent the visitors taking the lead.

Clevedon did not panic and played their way back into the game. Anya Colyer was put through by Meredith to score her second and equalising goal. More pressure on the Keynsham goal saw Harriett Watts force the ball over the line to make it 3-2.

Clevedon’s defenders had to be alert and Gillespie again cleared off the line. Inventive play saw Daisy Lacey in space to make it four and more pressure resulted in a Clevedon effort disallowed as the home team saw the game out as comfortable winners.
