Clevedon soaked up a lot of pressure to earn a share of the points, but so nearly came away with a victory.

From the start, Clevedon forced Jaspers onto the back foot with Ella Davey dominating the midfield sending away the home forwards. Amy Dewfall and Caitlin Meredith eagerly searched out scoring opportunities, but Jaspers held out.

They then broke out and tested the home defenders, but found Laura Gillespie and keeper Christina Becker in great form.

Clevedon reasserted themselves and peppered the Jaspers goal, they were rewarded when Meredith scored to put the home side ahead. Meredith has now scored three in four games for Clevedon.

Jaspers responded with a series of attacks and late in the half grabbed an equaliser.

After the break, Jaspers enjoyed a period of domination. Clevedon’s Pauline Archer and Harriett Watts played impressively to keep them out, some great saves from Becker and dogged determination from Nicola Gillespie and Meg Coulter added to the visitor’s frustration.

Tamsin DeBude came to the fore in the Clevedon midfield and provided good ball for the front line with Daisy Lacey using her speed to open up the defence, they forced a couple of short corners and came close in the final minutes of the game DeBude cleverly worked her way to the far post and received a great ball only to see her effort just inches away from earning a Clevedon victory.
