Portishead skittle team the Rebels beat 24 other teams to lift the winner’s trophy at a major tournament in Cornwall.

Portishead skittle team the Rebels have won a major tournament, beating 24 teams to lift the winners’ trophy.

The competition staged at Bude in Cornwall, attracted a strong field from Wales and five English counties. The Rebels stormed to victory, 37 points clear of their nearest rivals in the finals, racking up a final score of 428, with the Telstars from Wells some way behind on 391.

The tournament is one of around 20 in the Serious About Weekends Series staged annually at resorts in the south west and south coast of England. They are organised by Serious About Events of Torquay, who also stage the British Skittles Championships.
